Polyaluminum chloride (PAC) is a commonly used water treatment chemical used for coagulation and flocculation in water treatment processes. In water treatment plants, PAC is commonly used to remove suspended solids, soil, colors, and odors from water. In some applications, used PAC can be processed through secondary recycling for reuse. The process of secondary recovery of PAC usually includes the following steps:
Collect wastewater: Firstly, collect wastewater containing used PAC. This wastewater may come from the wastewater discharge outlet of the water treatment plant or other industrial wastewater containing PAC.
Wastewater pre-treatment: Wastewater needs to undergo pre-treatment to remove solid particles, precipitates, and other impurities. This can be achieved through precipitation, filtration, and other physical and chemical methods.
Acid-base regulation: Wastewater usually requires acid-base regulation to adjust its pH value to meet the requirements for further treatment. Acid-base regulation usually uses chemicals such as sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide.
PAC regeneration: The wastewater after pre-treatment and acid-base regulation is sent to the PAC regeneration system. In this system, chemical methods such as neutralization, precipitation, or other chemical reactions are usually used to separate PAC and impurities from the wastewater. The separated PAC can be collected and further processed.
Post regeneration treatment: The regenerated PAC usually needs to undergo processing steps such as washing and drying to remove residual moisture and other impurities, so as to meet the standards for reuse.
Quality inspection: The processed PAC needs to undergo quality inspection to ensure that it meets the standards for reuse. This includes checks on chemical composition, particle size distribution, and other aspects.
Storage and reuse: PACs that meet the standards can be stored for the next round of water treatment process.
It should be noted that the secondary recovery process of PAC requires strict operational control and monitoring to ensure stable quality of the regenerated PAC and not have a negative impact on the water treatment system. In addition, according to local laws and regulations, wastewater treatment and regeneration processes need to comply with relevant environmental standards.
